How is it possible that our baby girl is 6 weeks old already? I know, that's what I was thinking when I was posting that she was a month old. It's just amazing after having time just drag for so long that it can possibly be going this fast. It doesn't seem possible.
This week I had my postpartum OB appointment. I was able to schedule the appointment with the doctor that did our delivery. She was great. She just kept gushing over Megan saying how cute she was. *blush* I don't know how many babies she's delivered in the last 6 weeks, but she remembered how small she was and how much hair she had. She even mentioned that she thought her hair was darker when she was born. Which is totally true.
As for me, everything is going really well. Of course I cried happy tears when she asked me how things are going and how we're adjusting to life with a baby. After all we've been though, how could I be anything less than happy? Physically, I'm pretty much fully recovered from delivery. I felt like recovery was fairly easy, but with the delivery I had, there wasn't much to recovery from. So I guess this means it's time to return to life as usual. I'm not sure I know exactly what that means, but I do know that it means it's time to start working out again. We've made arrangements for my parents to watch Megan 2-3 times a week so we can go workout. Our fitness center has childcare available, but not until the baby is 3 months old. This will work out well. Grandma and Grandpa will get their baby fix and we can do something good for us at the same time.
I'm breast feeding and in the last few weeks I've started pumping. I don't need a huge freezer stash or anything, but it's nice to have expressed milk available to take if I'm going to be away from home for several hours at a time and of course grandma will need something if she's going to be watching her for a couple of hours at a time. Luckily Megan has been going back and forth between the real thing and bottle with no problem. I have to admit, more often that not, she's getting a bottle lately. It's just so much easier, so much quicker and most importantly, daddy can feed her too. Also, with breast feeding, you really have no idea how much they are eating, so this way at least we have some control over what she's getting and can see that she's getting enough.
In 3 weeks Megan goes back to her doctor again. This appointment will include her first shots. Eeeks. I'm sure it will hurt me more than it'll hurt her. I tried weighing her on our bathroom scale last week and she was 7lbs 9oz (give or take). I'm curious to see what her official weight from the doctor's office will be. She still seems like such a peanut, but she's definitely getting bigger. Some of her newborn stuff is just starting to get too short in length.
Below is a slideshow from her newborn photo session. She was only 3 days old here. I'm so glad we have these pictures from her first few days. She's looks so peaceful. Thanks again to Jessica for capturing our little peanut. Those of you who have the FB My Little Lamb Cradle and Swing might recognize this tune.

yes, the shots were rough. but they give them super fast and you can scoop her up right after. i had a bottle ready and feeding hannie comforted her and she was fine.
Ditto on the breastfeeding. We *can* do it, but it's so messy and much more time-consuming for us. I don't mind pumping and feeding from a bottle. Pumping makes me sit down and take a break (and get caugh up on my e-mails and blogs!) and others can feed him, too.
Ditto on the gym thing too. My parents were seriously thrilled when I called them tonight asking if they'd want to come over once a week (until I'm cleared for more, then it'll be twice a week) to watch Kasen so I can go to the gym.
